Hi! I’m Maeve

I have a passion for helping adults become empowered through learning to understand and resource their unique nervous system.

I believe that we are already whole, and worthy, – but sometimes, life and the systems we live in make it really hard to remember that truth.

I have been leading yoga, somatic learning, and expressive arts groups since 2011, and have been in private practice as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor with a certificate in Expressive Arts Therapy since 2016.

Pronouns: She, They
I am an able-bodied, white queer woman currently inhabiting Eastern Cherokee Indian Land.  Astrologically, I am a Leo sun, Libra rising, Libra moon, and Enneagram 2.
I am a worshipper of the natural world, poetry, writing, finger painting, belly laughing, and pup cuddling.

About Expressive Arts Therapy

Expressive Arts Therapy is a unique, multi-modal experience that lends itself well to processing emotional pain, stuckness, grief, and becoming aware of unconscious material. Expressive Arts Therapy can provide access to memories, emotions, beliefs, and wisdom that are otherwise beyond words and cognition.

Expressive Arts can include writing, visual arts, movement, and music. These modalities are unique in their ability to activate neural circuitry in the brain that can help us to access new perspectives, and rewire habitual patterns of thinking and behaving.  Through the expressive arts process, we are guided into a liminal space where we step out of our linear, action oriented, problem solving self and experience the opportunity to befriend facets of our inner being that we may not have known to exist.

About Somatic Therapy

This life can be very challenging and bewildering. I offer supportive and inquisitive presence as we work together to resource your nervous system, deepen self-attunement, and cultivate resilience during times of stress, grief, life transitions, relationship changes and spiritual explorations. I believe our body is highly intelligent and can help us tune into the wholeness of our inner being when we practice listening, attuning, tracking, and responding to the messages of our body.
I offer Body-Centered Therapy in the form of guided mindfulness-based awareness, EMDR and body sensing.
